Hood River County Trail Information

To all HRC motorized trail users:

The maps of the HRC Northwest Trail Area are in. They are free and can be picked up at the local HR M/C dealers or Hood River County Forestry Dept. 918 18th Street.

Northwest Area

Please do not park and stage at the bottom of Post Canyon Road! This is a high traffic area with Hikers, MT. Bikers, and Equestrians. Please drive up Post Canyon Road 2 miles from the end of the pavement to Post Flats Parking Area. The motorized trails start from there to Binns Hill and Kingsley Reservoir. The trails in the Lower Area of Post Canyon are non-motorized. Help reduce user conflicts by not riding there. The Binns Hill Staging Area is the BEST choice for motorized user parking. It has been improved with Oregon State Parks ATV funds.

Directions to the Binns Hill Staging Area:  From I-84, exit at Hood River exit (exit 62), go south (east) on Cascade/Oak St., and immediately make the next right turn (west) on Country Club Rd. Take Country Club Rd to Barrett Dr and turn right (west), staying on Country Club Rd past Hood River Golf to Oak Grove. Turn right (west) at the Old Oak Grove Store and take Binns Hill Rd past the last orchard on the left, go west up the steep hill to the Staging Area on the right.

The Farmers Irrigation Ditch (Lowline Canal) is on private property and is closed to all motorized use. The Spillway and lake area of Kingsley Reservoir are closed to motorized use.

Middle Mountain

The HRC Dump Area of Middle MT is CLOSED! It is posted and will be enforced by the HRC Sheriff.  The north end of Middle MT is also closed to motorized users. This is an Equestrian riding area. Please ride in the south end of the Middle MT area only.

East and South Area

Hood River County Land contains many private landowners. SDS Lumber and Longview Timber Co. own large parcels of land in HRC and they are not allowing any motorized use at this time.  Please respect private property.

The Forest Service Land south of the Power Lines is closed to all off-road use. Only designated roads and FS Trail # 451 are open to motorized use.

Directions to the PineMont Staging Area:

  From I-84 to Hood River exit 64 (Hwy 35 south). Go south on Hwy 35    10.3 miles and turn left (east) on PineMont Rd. Go   1.2 miles on PineMont Rd and turn right into the Staging Area.
